2011年8月發行個人首張專輯"Discography"拿下英國專輯排行榜 UK Albums chart空降冠軍專輯。專輯首發單曲"The A Team"也拿下全英音樂單曲榜 UK chart.第三名的好成績。艾德2012在美國成了小有名氣的歌手。他以「特別來賓」的身份參與了泰勒絲的第四張專輯「Red」並為英國男團One Direction作曲填詞。
2013年他花了近整年的時間參與泰勒絲在北美的巡迴演出。他在2014年發表了第二張專輯「X」， 並以"Sing"拿下2014MTV音樂錄影帶大獎(2014 MTV VMA)最佳男歌手錄影帶的獎項，繼前年以"+"，空降UK Albums Chart後又以專輯"X"，連續八周連蟬排行榜冠軍，並以此專輯，獲得第57屆葛萊美獎提名"最佳年度專輯"和"最佳流行演唱專輯"，及在第58屆葛萊美獲得"最佳年度歌曲"及"最佳流行歌手"兩項大獎。
不是偶像派的Ed Sheeran，許多人認為，才24歲的的他的作品風格多元、創作內容能夠吸引跟貼近年輕的一代，自然而不造作更是他吸引大家的原因。

此外，紅髮艾德說，寫歌是「一種療癒」。 26歲的艾德是告示牌排行榜常客，最近的熱門歌曲包括〈Shape of You〉、〈Castle on the Hill〉、〈Galway Girl〉。 艾德在專訪中透露，寫歌對他意義重大。「老實說，我認為寫歌是一種治療方式。」 「當我低落、難過的時候，能讓我振作起來的就是寫一首關於它的歌，因為至少你能從不好的經驗中得到一些好經驗。」
談到寫歌過程，艾德說：「我盡可能寫愈多歌愈好。」 「如果我處於寫專輯的模式，一天寫4-5首歌，就不會有思考過程，我就是邊彈吉他邊寫歌。」 「100首歌中大概有12首會是好歌，所以我寫很多，也丟很多。」
現在或許很難想像，不過艾德的音樂生涯早期並不順利。「我很容易走音，直到約16歲才比較好。」但即便找到自己的聲音，用錄音聽又是另一回事。他在臥室裡聽自己錄的第一首歌，「噢天啊，爛透了」。 他16歲時離家搬到倫敦繼續做音樂，持續表演，進步很快。不久後他發現，做個單純的歌手無法讓他脫穎而出，於是開始混入一些Grime和Hip-Hop風格。
「大家會看著你，說『他在搞什麼？』但這對我來說更好玩，因為你必須贏得他們的心。」很快地，大家開始注意到這個年輕歌手。 艾德名氣增加後，開始在更知名的舞台表演。他承認，雖然有人警告過，自己還是在成名的快感中迷失了一會兒。 艾德也非常介意別人的批評，當他初試啼聲的第一張專輯拿到1顆星或2顆星評價，艾德看得很重。「那讓我受到嚴重打擊。」艾德說，「我真的很低落，但接著那張專輯首週賣了10萬2000張。」
而且!!!!!他在今年10/22要來台灣開演唱會了!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!這也是紅髮艾德亞洲巡迴演唱會的首站，從官方消息看來，10 月底開始紅髮艾德的亞洲巡演將會先在台灣台北開唱，接下來他會到日本大坂、韓國首爾、日本東京、中國香港、菲律賓馬尼拉、印度雅加達、新加坡、吉隆坡、曼谷及杜拜等地開唱。
